Julie Kenner Romance Writing class starts Jan. 15

Georgetown Public Library is offering a Romance Writing lead by ARWA’s own Julie Kenner.

The class runs four weeks — Jan. 15, 22, 29, and Feb. 5 from 7-9pm. Each session is two hours. The charge for the course is $30, which must be paid in advance.

Skyler White’s And Falling, Fly selected as Best of the Best in Golden Opportunity

Indiana RWA announced that Allison Brandau of Berkley Publishing selected And Falling, Fly by Skyler White as the Best of the Best among the first place winners of all categories in Indiana’s Golden Opportunity’s Contest for 2008.

And Falling, Fly was entered in the Paranormal Category, where Kerry Donovan of NAL ranked it in First Place and requested the full.

Sherry Thomas Tops 2008 Lists

Sherry Thomas’ debut novel, Private Arrangements, and her follow-up, Delicious, are on numerous “best of” lists for 2008.

Both books made the BD Read’s Best Fiction of 2008 list. Delicious made Library Journal’s Best Romance of 2008 while Private Arrangements was listed on Publisher’s Weekly’s Best Mass Market Books of 2008 and named asRomance B(u)y the Book‘s best historical and best debut historical among the Best Romance Reads of 2008.

Though it’s in a lot of movies, did you know that doctors don’t shock a flatline heart rhythm? Join emergency room doctor, Kimberly Frost, for examples of accurate and inaccurate medical information in books and movies. Hear a discussion of when and why a writer might want to diverge from the truth and when she shouldn’t. Attendees are invited to ask questions about emergency medical and trauma procedures for use in their own fiction.

Bio
As a physician and educator, Kimberly has given approximately fifty presentations for audiences ranging from twenty to 200 participants, including lectures at state and national medical meetings. In the past eight years, she has received six awards for teaching and academic excellence.
