What is Romance Writers of America®?

Romance Writers of America® is a national non-profit genre writers’ association — the largest of its kind in the world. RWA advances the professional interests of career-focused romance writers through networking and advocacy. Can I be a member of my local chapter without being a national member?

No. You cannot be a member of an affiliated RWA local chapter without being a member in good standing with National RWA.

How much does it cost to join the Austin chapter?

Annual dues are $25 per calendar year when paid January through June. Members who join after July pay only $12.50 for the remainder of the calendar year. [Click here to download a Membership Application.]

Can I attend a meeting without joining?

Yes! You can attend three meetings as a visitor. After that time you will be asked to become a member.

Is there a fee to attend the monthly meetings?

No. Monthly meetings are free as a benefit of the annual membership dues.
