Here are some guidelines for submitting an article:
Topics
Each month’s column will feature the author’s top five… something. The possibilities for this column are limited only by your imagination, and all are welcome as long as they have something to do with writing, reading, romance or other topics of interest to our group.
Examples
What are the top five books you wish you’d never read? Top five books on writing? Who do you think are the top five editors in the business today? Who are the top five people who influenced your writing? What five phrases should never be included in a romance novel? What are your five favorite character names? What do you think are the top five occupations for villains? Top five historical settings for romance? Top five eras not being written about today?
Submission Guidelines
Ideally “My Five” columns should be between 250 - 500 words. In addition, please include your name, contact information, and one or two sentences about you.
Send your submissions to newsletter@austinrwa.org by the end of the month to be included in the next month’s newsletter. If the heavens open and too many submissions are submitted in a single month, they may be spaced out over time. Please state if you have a particular reason for wanting to be in a certain month’s newsletter (new book coming out, etc.) and that will be taken into account.
Publication Permissions
By submitting a “My Five” article, you grant permission for it to be printed in An Austin Affair and to be posted on the public-facing AustinRWA.org web site. Articles included in An Austin Affair will be shared via e-mail with other RWA chapter newsletter editors and may be reprinted in their newsletters at the editors’ discretion.
